Thursday the 18th of April, the annual meeting of the N\u00fdheima knowledge center was held in H\u00f6fn in Hornafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Ingunn J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir, HFSU’s executive director, and Helga Krist\u00edn S\u00e6bj\u00f6rnsd\u00f3ttir, project manager at HFSU, visited H\u00f6fn and attendet the meeting.<\/p>\n

It is an extremely important part of the activities of knowledge centers to create connections and promote the foundations on which such activities stands for. The Universisty Center of South Iceland and N\u00fdheimar knowledge centers have worked diligently in recent years to further strengthen the cooperation by successfully finding a common interface between the centers’ projects.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, Krist\u00edn Vala \u00derastard\u00f3ttir, project manager at N\u00fdheimar, presented the HeimaHofn project, which deals with the issues of young people in the municipality of Hornafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The project is much needed as it can prove to be a challenge for young people to find their place, get an education and realize opportunities in small communities. The project aims to empower young people, promote social activity and draw attention to the opportunities that are hidden in young people’s society in terms of education and employment. The HeimaHofn and Atvinnubr\u00fa projects, which is managed by The University Center of South Iceland, support each other well and form a good continuity between the high school community and the university community. Emphasis will therefore be placed on further strengthening the synergy of these projects and the centers will form the basis for cooperation in the coming weeks. These days you can find a lot of drive and ambition in projects where the issues of young people and rural areas are in focus. The University Center of South Iceland and the N\u00fdheimar knowledge Center intend to strongly support them and create connections for the future for young people and Southern society. In addition, employers, institutions and municipalities in the South have shown interest in both HeimaHofn and Atvinnubr\u00fa, so it can be expected that the continuation will be good.<\/p>\n
