Representatives from Flóahrepp, Hveragerðisbær and Árborg Municipality, along with the University Association of South Iceland and RATA, have worked on a new employment policy for the lower part of Árnessýsla.
The joint employment policy of three municipalities in the lower part of Árnessýsla is now ready for implementation. The municipalities of Árborg, Flóahrepur and Hveragerðisbær have worked diligently on the policy together with employees of the University of South Iceland in recent months. In the second part of the project, Hafdís Huld Björnsdóttir from RATA joined the team and led the development of the policy, and the team had a really good collaboration.
Many interesting things came to light during the data collection and processing. Residents actively participated, on the one hand by participating in a population survey and on the other hand at population meetings. The voices of residents were given a special place and the team wanted to reflect the aspects that residents are calling for in the municipalities.
The strategy as such is a guiding document for the municipalities and their implementing partners and is common to the three municipalities. The goals and emphases are common, but it must be taken into account that the projects of the municipalities are at different stages of development. Each municipality will therefore work on an internal structure that is consistent with the strategy, in parallel with cooperation with the other municipalities.
