Course on Starting and Running a Business
On November 4 and 11, a course was held on establishing and operating a business. A total of seven participants attended, and the course was considered highly successful. Participants expressed satisfaction with the content and said they had gained valuable insight into the key aspects to consider when starting a business. Many also expressed interest in further learning in this field.
The course covered essential elements of business formation and registration, different legal forms, and the formal requirements involved – where, how, and when the process takes place. Participants were also introduced to the fundamentals of business operations, including finance, accounting, and the tax environment, such as value-added tax and other core responsibilities of business owners.
The course instructor was Bryndís Sigurðardóttir, who has decades of experience in accounting and business-related financial matters. She places particular emphasis on simple and efficient work methods, where accounting is used as a tool to improve business performance and simplify interaction with tax authorities.
Courses like this play an important role in the community. Through regular training, opportunities open up for people who dream of creating their own employment and building businesses from the ground up. Such learning encourages entrepreneurial thinking, builds confidence, and can spark new ideas, value creation, and a more diverse local economy.
The course was subsidized by the Association of Southern Municipalities (SASS), whose support made it possible for participants to receive valuable education at favorable rates.
