South Iceland innovation met South Iceland investors in Selfoss.
A pitch event hosted by the University Association of South Iceland and IceBAN took place on May 21st at Sviðið in Selfoss, and it is safe to say there was a great deal of energy in the room.
Three exciting innovative companies from South Iceland took the stage and presented their ideas to investors, stakeholders, and interested guests.
The goal was to connect entrepreneurs and investors in South Iceland and showcase the significant opportunities inherent in innovation in the region.
The startups presenting this time were Live Food, which is working on vegan cheese production; Marea, which is developing a protective coating for cucumbers; and Haf Afl, which harnesses ocean currents and power to generate safe and reliable electricity.
Jón Ingi, Chairman of IceBAN, gave guests an insight into the world of angel investing and outlined what is involved in supporting early-stage startups. Margrét Polly emphasized the importance of increasing the visibility of innovation in South Iceland and building an ecosystem that fosters growth, connections, and new opportunities.
The event was well-attended, and the atmosphere demonstrated beyond doubt that there is genuine interest. There is clearly an underlying energy within the South Iceland innovation community, and this was just the beginning.
